PRESIDED & HOSTED BY:

  • Shri Aubrey Aloysius, Founder Trustee & President of LAMP Trust, Managing Director of Lorraine Music Academy, Chairman of the National Patriotic Project
  • Smt. Lorraine Fiona Aloysius, Trustee of LAMP Trust, Creative Director of Lorraine Music Academy

We had the oldest member of the audience – 89 years old Shri K. S. Sankaranarayanan, and three young child performers — Ayana Raa, Akaash Khanna & Neeve Walia — lighting the traditional lamp alongwith Dr. Atamjot Grewal, of Fortis Memorial Research Centre, Smt. Jamuna Muralidharan, Corporate HR Manager at Nestle India, Smt. Savita Malhotra, Shri Ganesh Mohan, Smt. Lorraine Fiona Aloysius and Shri Aubrey Aloysius. The audience sang "Happy Birthday" for Mr. Sankaranarayanan as he walked up to the stage.

It was truly a musical evening celebrating colours. Lorraine Music Academy and LAMP Trust hosted "COME INDIA SING A FESTIVE SONG — A Musical Evening Celebrating COLOURS" on the eve of Holi Festival, on Saturday 15th March 2014 at Epicentre Auditorium, Apparel House, Sector-44, Gurgaon.

For the first time ever, the audience witnessed a creative way of celebrating Holi in an auditorium integrating instrumental music, singing, dance performances and painting of colours. Musicians, singers, dancers and visual artists — both professionals and children of all ages — performed together on stage to an enthusiastic and participative audience.

Lorraine Fiona Aloysius played on piano the work of French composer Claude Debussy’s 1st Arabesque — while versatile painter, sculptor & photographer Savita Malhotra painted on stage to the music. Ganesh Mohan left the audience mesmerised with his dance to festive music which combined art, dance, balancing acts, juggling and skating. Aubrey Aloysius led the group with "Edelweiss" – a world famous song about a white flower from the Hollywood movie — "Sound of Music" while children painted on stage. The teenage band and children sang songs depicting colour – "Somewhere Over The Rainbow", "Blue Suede Shoes", "Yellow Submarine", "Yellow", "Black Velvet, "Colours In The Sky", "Counting Colours In The Sky". The final act was the painting of patriotic rainbows by children — using the colours saffron, white, green and blue. Aubrey Aloysius conducted a brief workshop to educate and encourage the audience to abide by the Constitution of India and respect its ideals and institutions, the National Flag and the National Anthem. This included an explanation on the proper singing the Indian National Anthem as per the code as laid out in the Constitution. The concert ended with audience singing the Indian National Anthem — Jana Gana Mana — with pride, passion, and precision, in the right rhythm, melody and timing — in 52 seconds.

Citizens of the National Capital Region left the auditorium feeling bright, happy, exhilarated and surprised that they could celebrate Holi in an auditorium by splashing colours on canvas while simultaneously enjoying the colourful music and vibrantly colourful dances.

This event is a part of the ongoing National Patriotic Project "Come India Sing Jana Gana Mana" that was launched on 15th August 2013, our Independence Day.

Spread the word, and join in singing our National Anthem alongwith other songs — Patriotic Songs, Festive Songs, Folk Songs, Pop Songs, Christmas Carols, Gospel Songs — which will follow as well.

PRESIDED & HOSTED BY:

  • Shri Aubrey Aloysius, Founder Trustee & President of LAMP Trust, Managing Director of Lorraine Music Academy, Chairman of the National Patriotic Project
  • Smt. Lorraine Fiona Aloysius, Trustee of LAMP Trust, Creative Director of Lorraine Music Academy

We had the oldest member of the audience – 88 years old Shri K. S. Sankaranarayanan, and the youngest child performer – Katya Sood, lighting the traditional lamp alongwith Smt. Meenakshi Singal, Junior School Principal of Pathways World School, Shri Lon McDaniel, Principal of Amity Global School, Shri H. R. Bangia, Smt. Lorraine Fiona Aloysius and Shri Aubrey Aloysius.

The evening celebrating Chacha Nehru’s birthday was truly magical and musical! Everything was a highlight.

Aubrey Aloysius highlighted some key points from the life of Jawaharlal Nehru and his amazingly loving relationship with and heart for the children of India whom he regarded as the future of India. Aubrey also highlighted the significance of the "National Public Service Broadcasting Day" by recalling this day 66 years ago when Mahatma Gandhi visited the All India Radio studio in New Delhi to record his encouraging message broadcast to the partition affected refugees camped in Kurukshetra. Lorraine Fiona Aloysius performed magically "Scenes From Childhood" by Schumann on the piano to an enthralled audience.

Priyanka Oza recited Jawaharlal Nehru’s speech "A Tryst With Destiny". Amit Dahiya Badshah recited his poem "Chidiya" for children.

Talented children of all ages from 4 to 17 years and youth performed what they love. Nayantara Sengupta — 8 years old — sang "My Favourite Things" from Sound of Music. The string of piano performances by children was outstanding. Little fingers playing with so much precision and abandon — was a visual and aural treat. Krutika Muralidharan rendered in her clear melodious voice "Aao Bachcho" in Hindi and "The Greatest Love Of All" in English.

Another highlight was The Children’s Choruses. Students of Lorraine Music Academy and of Pathways World School sang together in unison and lifted the spirit of the audiences. Most beautiful high voiced Tara from Pathways World School left everyone spellbound. The students of Pathways World School also entertained the audience with their dance set to the tune of "Jay Ho".

To top it all, the Lorraine Music Academy Teenage Band performed "Any Dream Will Do", "Sleeping Child" and "Sweet Child Of Mine".

The message to children and everyone was clear with Lorraine Fiona Aloysius leading the children in a sing along style:

  • Sing — Sing A Song
  • Sing it loud, sing it strong
  • Sing of good things, not bad
  • Let the world sing along
  • Sing of love that could be
  • Sing for you and for me

The National Anthem was sung by all — three times — as a part of the "Come India Sing" initiative of the Lorraine Music Academy and the LAMP trust. This event forms a part of the ongoing National Patriotic Project "Come India Sing Jana Gana Mana" that was launched on 15th August 2013, our Independence Day.

Aubrey Aloysius, founder of the Lorraine Music Academy and the LAMP Trust, and Chairman of the National Patriotic Project, says "Music is food for the soul. Good food and good exercise gives you good physical stability. A good diet of the right kind of music gives you mental, emotional, intellectual and spiritual stability. Music helps the creative process and sparks the imagination and ideas. When this musical imagination and experience of singing our National Anthem is ignited in a group circumstance, we have the most extraordinary power to change young lives for positive living and nation-building."

The National Patriotic Project "Come India Sing Jana Gana Mana" is a clarion call to 1.27 Billion Indians to stand together for one cause — the Unity of India, by singing one song — our National Anthem, in the correct code as laid out in the Constitution of India.

So spread the word, and join in singing our National Anthem. Other songs — patriotic songs, festive songs, folk songs, pop songs, christmas carols, etc — can follow as well.
