In collaboration with Municipal Corporation of Gurgaon, Lorraine Music Academy and LAMP Trust will host “A Musical Memorial – Remembering LAL BAHADUR SHASTRI” @ 6:00pm on Saturday 22nd October 2016 at the Auditorium, Government College for Girls, M.G. Road, Sector-14, Gurgaon to commemorate the 51st Anniversary of the famous slogan JAI JAWAN JAI KISAN that our Nation’s Hero, BHARAT RATNA SHRI LAL BAHADUR SHASTRI, has given to our Nation! This slogan is still relevant to the India of our next generation. We will pay homage to our 2nd Prime Minister on his recent 112th birth anniversary and remember the 51st Anniversary of the Indo-Pak war that he victoriously led the nation into, followed by the signing of a peace treaty in Tashkent a few months later.

We will also together herald the 50th Golden Anniversary Year of Haryana State!

Admission is free. No passes required. Seats will be available on first come, first served basis. Please come early and be seated by 5:45 pm.

Family Members of Lal Bahadur Shastri will be present – his sons, daughters-in-law, grandchildren and greatgrandchildren.

Professional musicians along with citizens and students from Lorraine Music Academy, Schools, Colleges and Universities from across the National Capital Region will express their celebration through song, instrumental music, and dance performances. The musical memorial will have performances by the youth and children – members of our next generation, and citizens of India. The musical memorial will include group / choir singing performances of patriotic songs and folk songs and group dance performances set to patriotic and folk music from across India and of Haryana. The choir singing will include “A Little Peace”, “Mile Sur Mera Tumhara”; the instrumental band performance will include “Tell Me Why”; and a medley of superbly performed dances set to patriotic and folk music and themes including “Ashoka The Great”, “Vande Mataram” among many others.

Bollywood Pop & Folk Singer Gajender Phogat from Rohtak, Haryana will perform patriotic and folk songs.

The Musical Memorial with include “THE THINKERS’ FORUM CHARCHA” which will consist of live on-stage interviews and interactions with Shri Anil Shastri Ji and Shri Sunil Shastri Ji, sons of Lal Bahadur Shastri, delving into the noble qualities, ideals, ethics, values & principles of our exemplary National Hero, so as to pass them on to inspire our next generation of citizens for positive nation building. Article 51A of the Constitution of India states that “It shall be the duty of every citizen of India to cherish and follow the noble ideals which inspired our national struggle for freedom; to uphold and protect the sovereignty, unity and integrity of India;”

The Musical Memorial will include a brief workshop embedded in the concert to educate and encourage the audience to abide by the Constitution of India and respect its ideals and institutions, the National Flag and the National Anthem. This will include an explanation and training on the proper singing of the National Anthem as per the code as laid out in the Constitution – in the right rhythm, melody and timing.

This concert is in aid of raising awareness, support and resources for the making of the Documentary Film “A Hero of War & Peace” on the life of Bharat Ratna Lal Bahadur Shastri. There will be a special screening of a 3-minutes preview trailer of this Documentary Film to launch LAMP Trust’s fund raising campaign to complete the film.

The Musical Memorial will include patriotic and folk songs / dances depicting India’s cultural ethos of “Unity in Diversity”. The event will have the audience singing our National Anthem with pride, passion, and precision. The National Patriotic Project “Come India Sing Jana Gana Mana” is a clarion call to 1.27 Billion Indians to stand together for one cause – the Unity of India, by singing one song – our National Anthem, in the correct code as laid out in the Constitution of India, which is around 52 seconds.

The event will also recognise schools that have participated in this nation building project so far and have ensured 100% participation of their students in this noble cause. Educationists, School Principals, Vice Chancellors, children & the youth of the nation will be encouraged to follow their examples and fulfil their fundamental duties as citizens of India as per Article 51A of the Constitution of India.

The event will also mark the encouragement of a nation-wide drive to encourage proper singing of our National Anthem the right way as per the code laid out in the Constitution of India across schools and educational institutions. The initiative includes speaking at gatherings of students in schools and educational institutions, during assembly time, in offices and institutions, conducting workshops and training sessions, teaching the correct way of singing the Anthem, with passion, pride and precision, i.e.- in 52 seconds. We will encourage singing across the National Capital Region and across the nation among citizens, community members, members of RWAs, office colleagues, etc.

This event forms a part of the ongoing National Patriotic Project “Come India Sing Jana Gana Mana” that was launched on 15th August 2013, our Independence Day.
